Jennifer Lawrence categorically refuses to play Mystique again in the X-Men
The actress obviously has no desire to find herself in the blue skin of the mutant again…
Don’t count on it turning blue again.
Jennifer Lawrence has no intention of returning to the X-Men saga. More precisely, she no longer wants to put herself in Mystique’s shoes.
Asked by Allurethe Oscar winner opened up about what she liked – and much less liked – about her experience in the mutant franchise. If she has excellent memories of the action scenes, she absolutely does not miss the physical transformation necessary to play the blue mutant:
“My favorite part about playing Mystique was the stunts. It was so much fun training like this and learning how to move. I had the same stunt double, Renee Moneymaker, as Katniss in The Hunger Games. She’s one of my best friends, so it was awesome. On the other hand, what I liked the least was undoubtedly the blue paint, all those hours of makeup…”
So much so that she doesn’t for a second consider returning to play the character one day. Nor even another role that would require getting up at dawn to spend hours in the makeup room:
“You should never say never, but then, absolutely not, damn it! You know, airbrush makeup is freezing. And I’m very ticklish. I discovered during this shoot that I could function on very, very little sleep. And what can happen to the human spirit when we truly reach our breaking point. Not to mention the patience it requires !”
Jennifer Lawrence played Mystique in four films between 2011 and 2019: X-Men: The Beginning, X-Men: Days of Future Past, X-Men: Apocalypse And X-Men: Dark Phoenix. An experience that now seems to belong definitively to the past.
Marvel is however preparing a new adaptation of X-Men as part of the MCU. The project should arrive after Avengers: Doomsday And Avengers: Secret Wars. It is the actress Rebecca Romijn – first Mystique of the first films of the saga – who will take up the role in Avengers: Doomsday next December 16 at the cinema.
