“Aemond scares me,” admits actor Ewan Mitchell ahead of season 2 of House of the Dragon

The actors of the new generation of House of the Dragon are teasing a particularly cruel season.

While the next season of House of the Dragon fast approaching, the promotion is working hard. A month ago, everyone defended their side. Team Black VS Team Green, the arguments followed one another to determine who would emerge victorious from the Dance of Dragons. In Westeros, Aegon II Targaryen now sits on the throne, supported by his mother Alicent (Olivia Cooke) and his grandfather Otto Hightower. But her power is challenged by Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D'Arcy) who in addition to claiming the place that rightfully belongs to him, wishes to take revenge for the death of his son, Lucerys Velaryon, killed by Aemond, brother of Aegon. Eye for eye, tooth for tooth.

March on King's Landing, epic battles, (very) big dragons, a Lannister army, an alliance with the Starks and an impressive naval fleet: the new trailer released last week already indicated that the war was going to rage and that it would be led head on by a new generation.

Dragons are everywhere in the new House of the Dragon 2 trailer

In an interview conducted by Den of Geek, the actors of House of the Dragon and the showrunner Ryan Condal have made some revelations about season 2 and the stakes of this fight. To start with Harry Collett (Jace Velaryon):

“For Jace, this is his war now. Because he lost his little brother. He's one of the characters who really wants to go to war.”

On the green side, Phia Saban (Helaena Targaryen) evokes the tragedy experienced by her character (we won't spoil it for you, but readers of Fire & Blood will know which episode it is). For Aemond Targaryen, “the baddest guy in the Red Keep”played by Ewan Mitchell, the rope is tight and the fate darker than we can imagine. The actor reveals: “Aemond scares me.”

Just like his uncle Daemon (Matt Smith), Aemond is second in line, but he aspires to prove that he has what it takes to be above others and in particular his brother Aegon – now reassured in the exercise of his powers as explained by his interpreter, Tom Glyn-Carney : “Dad just had a senile moment where he said Rhaenyra should be the heir.”

A player, the actor is convinced that his side is the best and has fun with the supporters of his enemies:

“All these people choosing Team Black are driving me crazy. Stop being so boring! You need to spice up your life a little! We need danger, betrayal, villainy.”

But there is one who prefers to put the ball in the center, the showrunner: “There are heroes and monsters wearing green, and in the same way, there are heroes and monsters wearing black.”

After confirming that there will be a total of fourteen dragons in this season, Condal teases two major bloody and epic battles:

“The battles are episodes in themselves. We have two of the greatest battle sequences ever filmed for House of the Dragon. Both are way beyond what we did for the first season. These are episodes within episodes.”

Are they the ones we see the beginnings of in the trailer?

On the occasion, the Max streaming platform which broadcasts the series published on the networks a new poster opposing the two matriarchs, Alicent Hightower in green and Rhaenyra Targaryen in black, facing each other. The three-headed dragon here has only two heads, and tangles and embraces the color of the camps.

As stated by the actor.ice Emma d'Arcy in an interview for Entertainment Weekly :

“This season is really looking at rage and maybe in a way also a woman’s rage – the female rage.”

From now on, “All Must Choose”everyone must choose their side before the start of the season, June 17 on Max.
