Alexandra Lamy and Philippe Katerine lead the investigation in Le Test

“Alexandre Lamy is definitely one of our best comedy actresses,” we wrote when it was released.

After The Guinea Pigs, Emmanuel Poulain-Arnaud returned to the cinema at the end of 2021 with a new atypical couple, composed ofAlexandra Lamy and of Philippe KaterineIn The test.

This crazy comedy takes the form of an investigation. Annie Castillon is happy. Her married life with Laurent is an example of harmony. His two grown-ups, Maximilien and César, are brilliant and sensitive boys. And Poupi, his young teenager, supports him without ever complaining in the education of Antoine, the youngest. A weekend like any other, the discovery of a positive pregnancy test in the bathroom will disrupt the beautiful harmony.

This plot, which recalls the heyday of Molière's comedy, is presented as follows in the trailer:

In the casting of this film, the screenplay of which is signed by Noé Debré and Emmanuel Poulain-Arnaud, Lamy and Katerine are surrounded by Matteo Perez, Joaquim Fossi, Chloé Barkoff-Gaillard, Pablo Condo and Lucile Jaillant to play the role of the perfect family.

So, is it worth it? The test ? First was a little mixed when it was released, but on the occasion of its unencrypted broadcast, this Sunday on France 2, we would like to see it again, if only for the naturalness of Alexandra Lamy, always great in the register of comedy. Here is our review:

After The Guinea Pigs (directly through the VOD box) where it featured a couple testing a revolutionary treatment to strengthen a blunted desire, Emmanuel Poulain-Arnaud ventures into a great classic of French comedy: the exploration of a family a priori without history hit by a small grain of sand which reveals all the dysfunctions.

In this case, a positive pregnancy test was discovered in a bathroom without the owner being known. On this basis, the scenario reveals itself to be a sluggish mechanism to say the least which, married to a smooth production and a barely more transcendent interpretation (with the notable exception of Alexandre Lamy, definitely one of our best comedy actresses), struggles to find any singularity.
