A film inspired by a rather special competition…
Pastel colors, a bike, a mermaid tail and an expensive divorce: Miss Mermaid unveils an underwater trailer, very gentle and slightly crazy.
After reality, filmmakers Pauline Brunner and Marion Verlé move on to fiction.
In 2019, they achieved another Miss Mermaidthis time in documentary form. The feature film followed Alexia, a young lonely maid, who found refuge at the bottom of the sea and decided to register for the Miss Mermaid France competition.
Here, it’s almost the same thing… Fanny, a young hairdresser, got married at 19, years later the divorce was finalized and she had to pay… 31,245 euros. Without money, she decides to try the Miss Mermaid competition…
On the casting side, we will find Aloïse Sauvage in the main role, as well as Thomas VDB, Annie Mercier and Alison Wheeler who will play the queen of the mermaids.
A dramatic comedy tinged with a very dreamlike universe, the film presents itself as a social tale.
Synopsis: “Freshly divorced, Fanny, a thirty-year-old from Fécamp, only keeps a leatherette sofa and debts from her marriage that she refuses to pay. Despite a burning need for freedom, this cleaning worker gets bogged down. Until the day she crosses paths with Anemone, a professional mermaid passing through the region…”
