Audrey Fleurot reinvents The Count of Monte Cristo for TF1
She will become The Countess of Monte Cristo, in a rereading of the novel by Alexandre Dumas.
A few weeks after saying goodbye to Morgane Alvaro, Audrey Fleurot remains loyal to TF1. The HPI star takes on Alexandre Dumas this time, playing a new and feminine version of the Count of Monte Cristo.
A year after the immense success of the film by Pierre Niney (10.5 million admissions in France), while France 2 filmed an ambitious European co-production by Bille August (with Sam Claflin, Jeremy Irons and Ana Girardot, scheduled for 2026), and M6 has just announced a reality TV game inspired by the novel, TF1 is releasing its own rereading.
Presented as a “free and daring adaptation”, the series focuses on Mercédès Herrera, who is no longer content to be a spectator of the tragedy. Here, Edmond Dantès dies and it is his fiancée who takes over the vengeance. To fully understand, you must read this detailed synopsis:
“Marseille, 1815. Mercédès Herrera is ready to do anything for the man she loves, Edmond Dantès, a sailor promised a brilliant future. But their happiness is shattered by a merciless betrayal. Wrongly accused, Edmond is torn from Mercédès and thrown into the depths of the Château d’If. Devastated but determined, Mercédès tries to save him – in vain. Edmond is killed during of their escape, and she herself is imprisoned in a neighboring cell. Consumed by grief, Mercédès has only one goal: to take revenge on those who destroyed her life – Fernand, her cousin in love with her; Danglars, an ambitious man without scruples; and above all Héloïse de Villefort, the implacable wife of the prosecutor.”
