Avatar 4 will go further in time and the exploration of Pandora
“We shot a first small part of Avatar 4, and it’s this part of the film that takes place before this epic time jump…”
James Cameron had already announced a major time jump for Avatar 4expected in theaters on December 21, 2029.
In an interview with The Direct, Trinity Jo-Li Bliss (who plays little Tuk) confirms that only a first part of the film was filmed, corresponding to the events preceding this time jump. She specifies:
“We shot a first small part of Avatar 4, and it is this part of the film which takes place before this epic time jump, which will really expand the story, the trajectories of the characters and explore Pandora’s ecosystems more widely…”
This jump will allow us to explore a new phase of the story, with a significant expansion of Pandora and its environments. The actress insists that the saga has only shown a tiny part of the potential of the planet Cameron imagined:
“We’ve barely scratched the surface of this world, these characters, and the depth they can reach…”
She also talks about the personal dimension of filming and the time that has passed since her debut in the production: “I really hope we can continue. We shot a very small part, and I remember it well. Even though I was 9 at the time, because it was related to a time jump… and now I’m 16. It’s crazy isn’t it?”
With this narrative shift and a universe still far from having been fully explored, Avatar 4 promises to be a major new expansion of Pandora, before Avatar 5, already planned for 2031.
