Excellent first day in France for The Devil Wears Prada 2

Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway have already attracted more than 160,000 curious people to theaters.

More than 160,000 admissions in an average audience of around 500 cinemas: this is an excellent start in France for The Devil Wears Prada 2and this without any preview.

David Frankel’s film even achieves the fourth best opening day of the year. The Devil Wears Prada 2worn in particular by Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway, is only ahead of Super Mario Galaxy (315,000 entries, without AVP), Marsupilami (308,000 spectators, but with many previews) and Michael (285,000 entries without AVP).

The Devil Wears Prada 2 even did much better than the first part, which closed its first day with 94,000 spectators in 2006, ending up with 2.1 million admissions at the end of its career.

Far behind, Vivaldi and mean Italian historical film, opened correctly in 210 theaters with more than 10,000 classical music fans, plus 10,000 curious people who came for previews.

Finally, big failure for Die, My Love. Lynne Ramsay’s drama, which screened at Cannes last year, only had 4,000 admissions on its first day (in only 134 theaters).
