César 2026: File 137 wins the high school students’ prize

The César for high school students will be awarded to Dominik Moll.

And one more Caesar for File 137.

The poignant thriller from the director of Only the beasts And The Night of the 12thdepicting the police blunders which raged during the demonstrations linked to the Yellow Vest movement, was able to appeal to young audiences.

This César category, created in 2019 by the Academy of Cinema Arts and Techniques and the Ministry of National Education and modeled on the Goncourt prize for high school students, intends to give a voice to young film fans. An initiative that aims to be “enriching and exciting image education and federation of young generations around cinema“.

If it’s Carine Tardieu’s feature film, Attachmentwhich received the César for best film last Thursday, it is File 137 which was crowned by 2,517 students, from 115 classes of general, vocational and technological high schools, in France and Overseas (but also in Abu Dhabi, Hong Kong, London, Milan, Nouakchott, Quito, Sarajevo and Tokyo). They mainly voted for the Dominik Moll film. It stood out among the five other works in competition for the Césars: Attachment, New wave, The Little One And A simple accident.

The vote took place between February 4 and 26, shortly before the ceremony. It is in the Grand-Amphithéâtre de la Sorbonne, at 2 p.m., that the film will be rewarded. An awards ceremony in the presence of the filmmaker, followed by a debate with more than 700 high school students.

Inspired by real events, the feature film recounts the investigation after the tragic injury of a young man by a flashball shot during the Yellow Vest demonstrations. Stéphanie (Léa Drucker), investigator at the IGPN, the police department, must then clarify the facts and establish responsibility…

File 137 also won the César for best actress last Thursday, awarded to Léa Drucker.

The film will be shown on April 1 at the Grand Rex as part of a free screening, on the occasion of this award.
