Cannes 2026: Why Fast and Furious is a true classic

Fast Forever will begin filming in December

The final part of the saga led by Vin Diesel is taking shape, before a theatrical release scheduled for March 2028.

The end of Fast & Furious is getting closer.

The pre-production stage is coming to its conclusion.

Vin Diesel announced that the filming of Fast Foreverthe eleventh and final film in the main saga, should debut next December.

The actor confirmed the news Monday evening during a special screening organized for the 25th anniversary of Fast & Furiousthe first film in the franchise. “We start filming in December”he told Varietywhile specifying that he still had to respond to the studio’s request.

And if Vin Diesel assures that he is in a good state of mind to attack this last chapter, the scenario has visibly touched him deeply. The actor explains that it took four teams of screenwriters and four years of development to arrive at a story that he considers worthy of concluding the saga.

“When I read the script a few weeks ago, I cried”he says. During the screening, Diesel returned to this emotion at greater length, explaining that a first tear appeared halfway through the script, before he was finally unable to hold back his tears at the end.

“Sometimes even the strongest men in the world need to cry”he told the audience.

After more than 25 years of existence, Fast Forever will therefore have the difficult task of putting an end to the saga. The film will be released on March 15, 2028 in France.

With its first ten parts, the franchise Fast & Furious has generated approximately $7.3 billion in revenue worldwide, making it the longest-running and most lucrative franchise in Universal history.
