Trailer: four years after WandaVision, Vision returns in a new Marvel series

Paul Bettany reprises the role of the MCU’s most famous android in a new Disney+ series that will delve into the memories of Vision, Wanda and their family.

Four years after WandaVision, here is Paul Bettany again in the shoes of Vision.

The first trailer for VisionQuest, the new Marvel series intended for Disney+, has just revealed the first images of this story which will once again play with memories and different realities.

The trailer opens with Vision in his human form, working in a pub. As he closes the establishment, a colleague brings up Wanda Maximoff, remembering the time when Vision regularly came with “the redhead”. Faced with the initials “W+V” carved into the wood of the bar, Vision simply responds: “I was a different person then.”

But Vision obviously hasn’t become a simple human again. He goes to the back room of the pub, regains his android form and returns to his home, located in a special universe… inside his own head.

“Who am I? I was an Avenger, but I’m no longer a hero,” we hear in the trailer. And Vision will have to face his past, in particular Ultron, who makes his comeback in his android form. Vision also asks him to take a human appearance, while JARVIS warns him that it is dangerous to keep Ultron near him.

Vision’s past will be at the heart of this new story. In Avengers: Infinity War, Thanos ripped the Mind Stone from Vision’s forehead, causing his death and plunging Wanda into a deep depression. In WandaVision, Wanda then created an artificial reality in which she found an amnesiac Vision and lived with him and their two children, Tommy and Billy.

By the end of the series, the real Vision, resurrected in white form and having regained his memories, had flown away. VisionQuest will therefore continue this story and explore the consequences of this resurrection.

James Spader will also return as Ultron, while the cast will bring together several other artificial intelligences from the Marvel universe: Emily Hampshire as EDITH, Orla Brady as FRIDAY, James D’Arcy as JARVIS, T’nia Miller as Jocasta, Lauren Morais as Lisa Molinari and Ruaridh Mollica in the role of adult Tommy Maximoff.

For Paul Bettany, this is above all the first live-action role in the Marvel universe since WandaVision. The actor had however started his adventure in the MCU from the first Iron Man, by lending his voice to JARVIS, before becoming Vision in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Consisting of 8 episodes, VisionQuest will be available from October 14 on Disney+.
