The new Ken Loach’s pub is open: The Old Oak trailer
Or how the arrival of Syrian refugees will create tension in a small village in the north of England.
At 87, the British filmmaker still managed to move the Croisette with his latest film, The Old Oak. Ken Loach is distributed empty-handed from the Cannes festival, but the double winner of the Palme d’Or today unveils the trailer for the film (below).
The story will follow TJ Ballantyne owner of a pub located in a small town in the north of England. In The Old Oak, “It serves the same idle regulars daily for whom the place has become the last place to meet. Until the day when the arrival of Syrian refugees will create tensions in the village. TJ will however befriend Yara, a young migrant passionate about photography. Together, they will try to revive the local community by developing a canteen for the most disadvantaged, regardless of their origins.”
The Old Oakwith Dave Turner, Ebla Mari and Trevor Fox will be released on October 25, 2023 in cinemas in France.
