A first official promotional visual of Toy Story 5 has just been released online and it brings us Woody the Cowboy and Buzz Lightyear.

Directed by Andrew Stanton, the film will mark the great return of the voices of Tom Hanks (Woody) and Tim Allen (Buzz Lightyear), accompanied by Joan Cusack, Tony Hale, Conan O’Brien and Ernie Hudson.

The official synopsis sets the tone: “Toys are back, and this time it’s Toy versus Tech.” The missions of Buzz, Woody, Jessie and their friends become “exponentially more complicated when they have to face a whole new threat to the moments of play”.

In an interview with PeoplePete Docter had specified that the story will resume after Toy Story 4 : Woody now lives his life of adventure helping lost toys, while Jessie has become sheriff of Bonnie’s room — with Buzz as his deputy. But Bonnie, now 8 years old, is more interested in her friends and her new technological toy, the “Lily Pad” tablet, whose artificial intelligence will cause trouble.

Toy Story 5 is co-directed by McKenna Harris and produced by Jessica Choi. Release scheduled for June 17, 2026 in cinemas in France.
