The director gave the first shot of his new feature in Marseille, where filming will continue until November 13.

Cédric Klapisch started his cameras on the set of his new project, Loving each other on Mars.

Filming began on September 17 in Marseille and will continue until November 13.

For this new feature film, the director surrounded himself with several actors with whom he has already worked throughout his career: Charlotte Le Bon, Pio Marmaï, Vincent Macaigne and Cécile de France, as well as the young Mariia Minieieva and Julien de Saint-Jean, present in the first official photo above.

StudioCanal unveils a long synopsis which introduces us to Jeanne (Charlotte Le Bon), 36 years old, “producer of a romantic series that she created three years ago for an American platform. She lives with Julien (Pio Marmaï), an actor in her series, but who dreams of theater and auteur cinema. The balance of their relationship falters and finds itself threatened when the second season of the series begins. From the start of filming, Jeanne’s personal life goes into a tailspin. She has to face Julien, who criticizes her for investing too much in her work – while he himself struggles to land roles – and for neglecting their three-year-old daughter. She must also manage the pressure exerted by the two screenwriters, Laurent (Vincent Macaigne) and Justine (Cécile de France), who live as a couple and are fiercely opposed to any form of formatting or compromise. She must finally motivate the two young stars of the series, Natalia (Mariia Minieieva) and Jean (Julien de Saint-Jean), who are in love on screen but who hate each other in real life. With all the chaos that usually accompanies behind the scenes of a shoot, Jeanne will have a hard time getting her head above water.”

According to StudioCanal, the film is designed as a portrait of three couples: “Natalia and Jean (22 years old); Jeanne and Julien (36 and 40 years old); Justine and Laurent (50 years old): three couples today and three ways of loving each other at different ages. A game of mirrors between fiction and reality, where three couples question love, always embellished on screen while it is so complicated in life.”

Loving each other on Mars will be released in cinemas in 2027. No specific date has yet been announced.
