Frozen 3: jackpot for American casting stars
Veronica Mars is making money thanks to Anna and Elsa.
The franchise The Snow Queen is one of the most lucrative in the history of animated cinema. And everyone wants their piece of the pie.
In particular the three star actors of American voice casting. Kristen Bell, Josh Gad and Idina Menzel, voices of Anna, Olaf and Elsa respectively, eagerly negotiated their salaries to return to Frozen 3 and the sequel already ordered, Frozen 4.
According to information from the American press, each of the three should receive nearly $20 million per film in basic fees, supplemented by bonuses linked to the box office, for a total which should be more than $60 million on the two components at the end of the day. A very big increase, knowing that for Frozen 2each had touched around 15 million.
These colossal fees are a record: Kristen Bell, Josh Gad and Idina Menzel now have the highest salaries in the history of animation for a voice cast.
An executive close to the negotiations specifies that these payments will be spread over several years, and not paid all at once. Disney has not yet commented on these figures.
We don’t know how much Anaïs Delva and the other French voices in the cast receive, but we can assume that it’s a little less…
These amounts reflect the continued commercial strength of the franchise: The Snow Queen grossed $1.3 billion worldwide, Frozen 2 exceeded this figure in 2019 with 1.4 billion and was, for a long time, the biggest success in the history of animation (beaten in recent years by Ne Zha 2 And Vice-Versa 2).
On the creative team side, Jennifer Lee returns to direct Frozen 3this time accompanied by Trent Correy (Once Upon a Studio).
Disney plans the release of Frozen 3 for November 2027. Frozen 4 is still in development, with no official date announced.
