Wonka remains at the top of the French box office, La Tresse is a millionaire
The end of the winter holidays, however, signals a general drop in cinema attendance. (Source: Le Film Français)
For its fifth week, Wonka wins the golden ticket at the French box office, since it maintains its first position. The end of the winter holidays marks a drop in cinema attendance, notably -66% for Wonka, but this still allows it to collect 227,945 new entries from 783 copies. That’s a total of 3.2 million spectators.
The chocolate blockbuster thus becomes the biggest success of Paul Kingsince his previous films Paddington had not reached the mark of 3 million entries.
It seems like Preserve was stormed at the start of 2024 with 211,957 more entries and a total of 1.3 million tickets sold. Didier Bourdon follows closely Timothée Chalamet. The film plays in front Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom and the Three Musketeers : Milady – probably due to a higher number of copies, more than 800 compared to 752 and 697 for Aquaman which honors the third position for its fourth week. But this remains well below the capabilities of the fish man, who had achieved much better figures for his first part: 3,289,776 entries in total while the second opus struggles to exceed 2 million.
The Three Musketeers – Milady is in fourth place with 152,777 interested spectators in this fifth week. The film is also hit by a drop in its audience (-60%). Its peak in attendance comes to an end, after occupying the podium for more than a month.
Two top films exceed the million admissions mark this week: The braid and the Segpa on skis. In completely different genres, the two projects occupy equally divergent places. The braid is ninth for its seventh week with 68,710 tickets sold for 487 copies, accumulating 1,086,899 in total since its release. The turbulent comedy of Segpa gains 133,885 additional entries this week, allowing it to climb to fifth place in the top with a cumulative total of 1,072,563 entries since its release.
Mean Girls is the big absentee from the top 10 for its first week. The generational phenomenon does not seem to have had an effect in France since it ranks 14th with only 53,830 interested. Not fetch! The drop in attendance is fatal for the last Disney Wish: Asha and the lucky star And Priscilla of Sofia Coppola who are kicked out of this top.
On the other hand, for their first week, Bonnard, Pierre and Marthe, Making of And A silence follow each other in the race. The biopic of the Parisian painter begins its career at the French box office with 130,977 admissions, then exceeding Seraphine, from the same director Martin Provost (97,246 entries for its first week). The bucolic feature film with Cécile of France And Vincent Macaigne is placed in sixth position in the top. Behind him, Making of with Jonathan Cohen brought together 86,703 curious people about this filming mise en abyme. Just behind, A silence follows the comedy with 83,446 spectators attracted by this intimate drama with Daniel Auteuil And Emmanuelle Devos. Iris and men closes this top, only nine entries from ninth position, since the comedy with Laura Calamy And Vincent Elbaz attracted 68,701 spectators for its second week.
