The 50th Hunger Games are underway! Trailer for Harvest Sunrise
The new film in the saga will take us back to the time of young Haymitch Abernathy.
Even though Katniss Everdeen returned the bow a long time ago, the saga continues…
Lionsgate has released the first ever trailer for Hunger Games: Sunrise over the Harvestnew opus of a franchise that refuses to die on Capitol Hill (see below).
Adapted from the novel published in 2025, the film goes back 24 years before the events of the first Hunger Games and follows a teenage Haymitch Abernathy, played here by Joseph Zada. Selected for the 50th edition of the Games – the dreaded Second Quarter Quell – he must face an arena where the rules double the stakes: each district sends twice as much tribute. Result: 48 kids thrown into a bloodbath programmed to designate a single survivor. Atmosphere.
The cast reinvents the mythical figures of Panem: Elle Fanning takes on the role of a junior Effie Trinket, and Ralph Fiennes slips into the icy costumes of President Snow, while Kieran Culkin inherits the showman Caesar Flickerman and Jesse Plemons slips into the early years of Plutarch Heavensbee.
Around them, some young talents like Kelvin Harrison Jr., Maya Hawke, Mckenna Grace, Billy Porter, Whitney Peak, Ben Wang, Molly McCann, Iona Bell and Percy Daggs IV complete the arena. And finally, Glenn Close promises to make an epic appearance.
At the helm, Francis Lawrence returns, still supported by Billy Ray’s screenplay. Historical producers Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson are also back, for a prequel that aims to rekindle the flame before it even reaches Katniss.
Hunger Games: Sunrise over the Harvest will be released in theaters on November 25, 2026 in France.
