For his first film behind the camera, the Palmashow actor signs a tender and offbeat romantic comedy about a Breton forty-year-old who dreams of becoming a professional footballer.
The midlife crisis seen from the football fields in Brittany.
With Gilles Unitedactor Grégoire Ludig, half of Palmashow, signs his first feature film as a director. A comedy focused on Brittany, love and the dreams that we refuse to give up. Released in cinemas on January 13.

The film follows “Gilles Le Diben, 41, whose daily life consists of supervising hill starts on Breton roads. Until the day when his wife Marie, director of the driving school for which he works without passion, is forced to fire him, and ends up leaving him. But Gilles is not going to let himself be defeated. To regain the love of the one he loves and shine in her eyes again, he decides to start everything from scratch, and become the great professional football player he always dreamed of being…” details the synopsis.
“As someone who is passionate about football and cinema, isn’t there something to say about that?”confided Grégoire Ludig to First a few days ago, while he presented the film in preview at the Saint-Jean-de-Luz Film Festival. Behind this improbable sporting reconversion hides in reality a more intimate story: “Beyond football, we talk about a sort of midlife crisis. When we reach a certain age, are we still able to look kindly on the people around us? Do we still love properly? Are we still loved as we should be? Ultimately, Gilles United is a quest for love, and in the end, it’s a romantic comedy.”
With this first feature film, Grégoire Ludig combines his passion for football with a story of a couple and a second chance.
Gilles United will be released in cinemas on January 13, 2027 in France.
