What will they do now that the Netflix series is over? Some stars of the Upside Down are in high demand, others less so. We take stock.
Millie Bobby Brown in Enola Holmes 3
For her, everything works! Netflix’s biggest icon is set to lead a new Victorian investigation into the platform. Expected in the summer of 2026, this third part takes the young detective to the sun-drenched coasts of Malta. The plot sees Enola confronted with an international conspiracy that tests her skills of deduction, while her personal life takes a more romantic turn. The first images, which have gone viral, notably show Viscount Tewkesbury, played by Louis Partridge, on one knee. Henry Cavill is confirmed to return as Sherlock Holmes…
Sadie Sink in Spider-Man: Brand New Day
She arrived in season 2 and since then, she has taken a huge place in the hearts of Stranger Things fans. So much so that she caught the eye of Marvel: she will take her first steps in the MCU in the next Spider-Man film opposite Tom Holland, in a role still kept secret. Theatrical release July 31, 2026.
Maya Hawke in Wishful Thinking
She was also added to the original cast late in life (from season 3). But Uma Thurman’s daughter quickly showed her talent. This year she will be starring in Wishful Thinking, a surreal romantic comedy directed by Graham Parkes, alongside Lewis Pullman. The film will have its world premiere at the SXSW festival in Austin next March. The story follows a couple whose emotional states have supernatural effects on their surroundings, forcing them to question the nature — beneficial or toxic — of their relationship. And then at the end of the year, Maya will join the universe of the Hunger Games saga. She will be a candidate for Sunrise on the Harvest, expected in theaters on November 18, 2026. She plays Wiress, a brilliant former victor of District 3, in a story centered on the 50th Hunger Games.
Finn Wolfhard in Crash Land
Finn Wolfhard begins a new phase of his career, between comedy and music. He will soon star in Crash Land, currently in post-production. This high-energy stunt film promises to reveal a more slapstick and slapstick side of the actor. But Finn accepts it: music remains his priority. His band, The Aubreys, is planning a summer tour in 2026, and he has also hinted that a solo album could be released by the end of the year.
Joe Keery in Cold Storage
Far from his role as a big-hearted “babysitter”, he will play a radically different role in Cold Storage, an R-rated survival thriller, in theaters on February 18, 2026. Directed by Jonny Campbell and written by David Koepp (Jurassic Park), the film features Keery as Teacake, a night worker stuck in a military storage site. He must team up with an agent specializing in bioterrorism, played by Liam Neeson, to prevent a fungus capable of controlling brains from spreading…
Caleb McLaughlin in GOAT
Lucas will move into animation with GOAT, an original sports comedy from Sony Pictures Animation, scheduled for February 11, 2026 in theaters. He lends his voice to a young goat who dreams of playing roarball, an ultra-violent sport normally reserved for much larger predators. Produced in particular by NBA star Stephen Curry, the film brings together an eclectic vocal cast including Gabrielle Union and… David Harbour.
David Harbor in Avengers: Doomsday
David Harbour, in fact, is in high demand. The star will notably juggle two very different versions of the tough guy. He is currently filming Violent Night 2, due December 4, 2026, where he reprises his role as Santa Claus armed to the teeth, with Kristen Bell as Mrs. Claus. At the same time, he remains firmly anchored in the MCU as Red Guardian, a character present in Thunderbolts and who should make his return in the highly anticipated Avengers: Doomsday.
Gaten Matarazzo in Animal Farm
Gaten Matarazzo will lend his voice to Lucky in the animated adaptation of George Orwell’s Animal Farm, directed by Andy Serkis. The film, expected on May 1, 2026 in the United States (the French date is not yet known) brings together a prestigious voice cast and promises to be one of the most ambitious animated projects of the year.
Natalia Dyer in Chestnut
The brilliant Nancy stars in the lead role of Chestnut, a highly anticipated coming-of-age queer drama on the festival circuit, before a streaming release in spring 2026. She plays a young graduate who finds herself drawn into a complex relationship with a charismatic couple during a stifling summer in Philadelphia. A change of register then with God’s Country, a survival thriller currently at the end of post-production, scheduled for release at the end of 2026. The actress plays a young woman engaged in a brutal game of cat and mouse in the wilderness, a film already compared to The Revenant for its physical intensity and roughness.
Charlie Heaton in Twice Over
The interpreter of Jonathan Byers will make a pas de deux with Mia Wasikowska in Twice Over, a romantic comedy currently in production. The film follows two former lovers who meet again years later, rekindling buried emotions and questions about their past choices, their present lives and what could have been. The project is carried out internationally by Heretic.
