James Bond 26: Steven Knight has completed the first version of the script

While all attention is currently focused on the identity of the future 007, Steven Knight has just revealed that the first version of the script for the next film is now completed.

Asked by Zoe Ball on an English radio station to find out if he had finished his first draft, the screenwriter of Peaky Blinders just replied, nodding silently. A fairly clear way to confirm that the writing work is complete. Steven Knight does not hide his enthusiasm at the idea of ​​tackling 007:

“It’s more than a childhood dream.”he explains, adding that he had the feeling of “doing his duty to king and country by tackling this”. And above all: “I absolutely love doing this. It’s an honor to be asked. And I think it’s going to be really, really good. I honestly think it’s going to be amazing!”

The screenwriter also hinted this week that he already knew the identity of the next James Bond.

Asked by the BBC whether he wrote the film with the chosen actor in mind, or simply based on what he knew about the character, Knight replied: “A bit of both.” Before adding: “It’s obviously easier if you know who that person is, but you also have to write the character, not the actor.”

Enough to revive a little more speculation around the casting. The next film will be the 26th in the saga and will mark the start of a new era after the departure of Daniel Craig. Denis Villeneuve will direct the film for Amazon MGM Studios.

The official announcement of the new 007 could therefore not be long in coming. Especially since Gary Oldman recently affirmed that the decision concerning the casting had been made, hoping that his partner of Slow HorsesJack Lowden, landed the role, he who is among the favorites…
