Kane Parsons will direct Backrooms 2, and it will be his next film
After the success of his first feature film, the young filmmaker should very quickly dive back into the horrific universe that revealed him. Backrooms 2 would already be his next project for A24.
Kane Parsons clearly has no intention of leaving the Backrooms soon.
According to Dread Centralpicked up by the American press this weekend, the director would have officially signed to direct Backrooms 2 for A24. An official announcement would also be imminent.
And above all, this sequel should be Kane Parsons’ next film. The filmmaker will therefore not immediately launch into another original project that he is developing with his mentor Osgood Perkins (Longlegs), this having been put aside for the moment.

Parsons’ journey is quite exceptional. It all started with a simple image representing a strange “liminal” space, which inspired a horrific series published on YouTube. His videos quickly went viral and attracted the attention of A24, which decided to transform the phenomenon into a real feature film.
Parsons himself directs Backroomswhich in turn met with enormous success in theaters. The film would have grossed nearly $400 million worldwide, for a production budget approximately forty times lower.
The director himself had hinted that a sequel was in the pipeline. Asked by Variety last May, he explained: “Backrooms was always intended as a series that could go beyond the limits of this film.” Before adding: “I have a contract, and I have an option on my side, and that means I’m definitely not done with Backrooms.”
So it seems that things have accelerated. It now remains to be seen when A24 will make it official Backrooms 2. According to Dread Central, it shouldn’t be long now.
