Lanterns: the new trailer treats DC fans to Sinestro and the Manhunters
Green Lantern on mission in new images from the HBO series coming this summer.
“In broad daylight or in the dark of night, no evil escapes my gaze…”
DC Studios took advantage of San Diego Comic-Con to unveil a new trailer for Lanterns, one of the most anticipated series in the new DC Universe. New images which should delight Green Lantern fans by multiplying the references to the comics.
The series will follow Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler), veteran of the Green Lantern Corps, and John Stewart (Aaron Pierre), young recruit whom he trains. The two are sent to a small town in Nebraska to investigate a mysterious murder that may be linked to an alien threat. This police investigation, presented as a true thriller, constitutes the starting point of a much larger intrigue. The two Green Lanterns, capable of materializing any object thanks to their famous rings powered by will, will discover that the crime is linked to the Manhunters, a fearsome race of aliens capable of changing their appearance and imitating anyone.
The main surprise of this new trailer, however, remains the first appearance of Sinestro. An essential character in DC comics, he was first Hal Jordan’s mentor before falling to the dark side and becoming his worst enemy. Future leader of the Sinestro Corps, he will abandon the Green Lantern to wield a yellow ring fueled by fear.
The teaser also gives fans a nod with an appearance by Guy Gardner, another iconic Green Lantern from the DC universe, who has already appeared in James Gunn’s new DC Universe, in Superman or Peacemaker.
Consisting of eight episodes, Lanterns will be broadcast from August 16 on HBO Max in France.
