Leonardo DiCaprio record! All BAFTA 2026 nominations

Leonardo DiCaprio record! All BAFTA 2026 nominations

Unsurprisingly, the British ceremony gives pride of place to Sinners and One Battle After the Other. On the French side, A Simple Accident and tricolor animation are also doing well.

After the Oscar nominations, and while waiting for those for the Césars announced this Wednesday, the 2026 BAFTAs were revealed today. Like their American cousins, British prices leave plenty of room for Sinners And One battle after another.

The political satire of Paul Thomas Anderson (One battle after another) leads the race with 14 nominations, just two short of the historic record held by Gandhi (1982). The film thus joins In the west, nothing new, Come back to me, A King’s Speech And Tiger and Dragon among the most nominated works in BAFTA history.

Another notable fact: Leonardo DiCaprio equals Daniel Day-Lewis, Michael Caine and Laurence Olivier with seven BAFTA nominations for best actor. He had already been nominated for Aviator, The Departed, The Wolf of Wall Street, The Revenant (which he won), Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood And Don’t Look Up. On this occasion, he also becomes the youngest actor to reach this total.

Just behind, Sinners landed 13 nominations. The historic horror film directed by Ryan Coogler sets a record: it is the most nominated film in BAFTA history directed by a black filmmaker.

A notch below, Hamnet And Marty Supreme each leave with 11 nominations.

On the French side, A simple accident is in the running and will face exactly the same competitors as at the Oscars for the Best Foreign Film trophy. The three-color animation is also well represented, with Amélie and the metaphysics of tubeswhile the winner of the Annecy animation festival, Arcois strangely absent but will compete in the category, always a little strange, of Best Film for Children and Families.

The BAFTA 2026 ceremony will be held on February 22, 2026, at the Royal Festival Hall in London. Watch live on Canal + in France.
