The Groseilles and the Le Quesnoys, act II.
Life is a long, quiet river that will resume its course. Not with a sequel, but with a remake series of the great classic by Etienne Chatiliez, directed by Clovis Cornillac for Netflix.
Released in 1988, the cult film about the exchange of two babies between two completely opposite families will therefore be entitled to a new version, produced for Netflix in co-production with TF1. Alban Ivanov and Ludivine Sagnier will play the Groseilles, while Doria Tillier and Xavier Lacaille will play the Le Quesnoys. No members of the original cast are expected to reprise their roles.
Actor, but also director of several feature films such as A Little, Much, Blindly and Belle and Sébastien 3: The Last Chapter, Cornillac will direct the six episodes of this first season.
The story remains the one imagined by Chatiliez, but transposed to contemporary times: “In Arcachon, two completely opposite families – the Le Quesnoys, bourgeois Catholics, and the Groseilles, proletarian gauchos – discover that their children were exchanged at the maternity ward 14 years ago. Worse: they already know each other, and hate each other. Father Le Quesnoy runs the hypermarket where Father Groseille is a forklift driver and a pure trade unionist. juice. Unable to reach an agreement, they are forced by a Children’s Judge into a 4-month alternating custody trial. Each of the families will fight to obtain custody of the two teenagers, Côme and Jordy. The class struggle has just found its ring.
The series is created and written by Estelle Koenig and Julien Teisseire, who had already worked for Netflix by co-writing the comedy Super Mâles (2025) alongside Noémie Saglio. Augustin Amri and Alpha Diallo also participate in the writing.
This first season will have 6 episodes. Filming begins this week between Bordeaux and Arcachon.
Netflix has not yet announced a release date.
