Mike Flanagan’s Carrie is in the box! Filming completed
The director is delighted to have finished “one of his favorite projects”.
Horror master Mike Flanagan (creator and director of The Haunting of Hill House, The Midnight Sermons, The Fall of the House of Usher) has just announced the end of filming on his new series Carrie. This time, it will not be for Netflix, but for Prime Video. And according to him, it is one of his most personal projects.
On Instagram, the director shared an enthusiastic message: “Last day of filming CARRIE. It’s one of the best experiences of my career, with one of the best sets of actors I’ve ever worked with. It’s already one of my favorite projects. I can’t wait for you to see what we made.”
Adapted from Stephen King’s cult novel published in 1974, Carrie revisits the story of this teenager bullied in high school, endowed with telekinetic powers, who ends up taking revenge on her tormentors.
In the casting, it is the young unknown Summer H. Howell (starred in horror films like Hunter Hunter and Night of the Reaper) who takes over the title role. She will be surrounded by Siena Agudong, Matthew Lillard, Samantha Sloyan, Alison Thornton, Amber Midthunder, Josie Totah and Arthur Conti.
King’s book has already seen several adaptations, notably the great classic by Brian De Palma in 1976 (with Sissy Spacek), a sequel in 1999 (The Rage: Carrie 2), then two remakes (2002 and 2013).
This new version, filmed since last June, marks Flanagan’s first collaboration with Prime Video after years of partnership with Netflix. No release date has yet been announced.
