Naruto: a new anime and a new manga announced

During New York Comic Con, the franchise created by Masashi Kishimoto unveiled two new projects: a crossover anime with NINKŪ and a manga titled Shadow Rising.

The ninjas of Konoha have not finished talking about them.

The Naruto franchise has just announced two major new features: a new animated series which will cross over into the NINKŪ manga universe, as well as a new manga called Shadow Rising. The announcements were made Saturday during a Naruto panel at New York Comic Con.

Called NARUTOxNINKŪ, the new anime will be supervised by Masashi Kishimoto, the creator of Naruto, and Koji Kiriyama, the author of NINKŪ.

The story will follow Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura, sent on a mission by Kakashi. Unable to accompany them, their master appoints Naruto as interim team leader. Fully pumped, he intends to carry out the mission successfully. But the trio soon finds themselves lost in an unknown world, where they meet a mysterious frog-faced boy named Fūsuke. It remains to be discovered what awaits Team 7 in this strange universe.

A first video was revealed to accompany the announcement, without further details on the broadcast of the anime having been communicated:

The panel ended with a second surprise: the presentation of Shadow Rising, a new Naruto manga. A short teaser announced that more information would be revealed during Jump Festa 2027 this December. For the moment, neither the plot nor the publication date of this new title have been specified.

Finally, fans also received news about the live-action adaptation of Naruto

Destin Daniel Cretton, the director of the film, shared a message in which he reflects on the work in progress and his vision of the character.

“What I’ve always loved about Naruto is that he might normally be relegated to the role of a foil. He’s enthusiastic, he overdoes it and others underestimate him. But he has a huge heart. No matter how many times he fails or falls, he never stops believing in himself and fighting for those he loves. It’s this spirit that is at the heart of the story we’re telling,” explains the filmmaker.

Cretton assures that the team works with great care on the universe, relationships and journeys imagined by Kishimoto. The director also promises new information soon, while the casting of the film is still being sought.
