“Skip the hot scenes”: No, this feature does not exist on Netflix
In reality, the platform always offers more ways to facilitate the viewing experience of its subscribers. Which inspired a well-inspired prank…
Who has not found themselves at least once confronted with a intimate scene during a viewing with his parents? A very embarrassing moment, which we would all like to escape.
On this idea, during the weekend on X (former Twitter), a certified account published a screenshot taken on Netflix from the Serie The Bridgerton Chronicles, on which we see Lord Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey), wet shirt revealing protruding muscles. A little further down appears a small message: “Skip the foreplay, literally. Make family movie nights less awkward by removing the steamy scenes from this series.”
In other words, according to this Internet user, Netflix has introduced a new feature allowing you to effortlessly skip all the sex scenes in a program. A post that quickly went viral and an idea that caused a stir. However, by consulting your Netflix account, we see that such an option does not exist. Why then does Soren Iverson – who made the post – seem to be the only one to have it? Well quite simply because it is a montage. We have to admit, we could have fallen into the trap.
Despite the misinformation, many Internet users began to think about the question. Under the original post, some make fun, for example, by naming certain series which would then only have two minutes of viewing time once the sex scenes have passed. We think in particular of the first seasons of Game Of Thrones. Others validate the idea like Turbato Thomas who writes: “I could pay for that. No joke” and Luis Sanjan for whom this feature would be “necessary. Some sex scenes add nothing to the plot.” A debate that regularly resurfaces on the networks…
Henry Cavill is 'not a fan' of sex scenes in cinema
So good or bad idea? Although no study has yet demonstrated that the number of intimate scenes has increased in recent decades, it seems that spectators have grown tired of seeing buttocks on screen. A trend that we find particularly among younger people who, according to a study carried out at the end of 2023 by the University of California UCLA, would like to see less sex in their programs. In total, almost 48% of adolescents and young adults feel that “sex is not necessary to the plot in most television series and films.”
While waiting for such a feature from the streaming platform, viewers who wish to watch this type of content can always… accelerate the reading speed. This feature really exists on Netflix.
