Elizabeth Olsen Admits: ‘Marvel Didn’t Know What to Do With Scarlet Witch’
Wanda Maximoff’s strange evolution has left MCU fans baffled. And her actress too.
While it will begin in a few days Agatha All Alongon Disney Plus, Elizabeth Olsen recalls her years as Wanda Maximoff, which ended strangely in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Attention spoilers!
Indeed, at the end of the very beautiful and very human series WandaVisionWanda discovered the extent of her powers thanks to Agatha Harkness, to the point of completely changing and becoming the Scarlet Witch. An ancestral entity with exceptional gifts, perhaps the most powerful character in the entire MCU, capable of single-handedly destroying the Illuminati (Mr. Fantastic, Charles Xavier, Captain Carter…) who were nevertheless gathered against her. Judging by the script errors of Doctor Strange 2Marvel Studios seemed embarrassed by this new character of a super-powerful Witch, transformed into a mega villain.
“It’s a character that I could see myself playing again one day… if there’s a way to use it well.” confess today Elizabeth Olsen in an interview with FM104 (via Collider). She explains:
“I was lucky because at the beginning, I was used well. They knew how to evolve Wanda. But after WandaVision, I think the people at Marvel didn’t know what to do with me or how to use Scarlet Witch (in the MCU). But if there’s a good way to use her and bring her back, I’m always happy to come back.”
Because after his strange journey in the Multiverse of Madnessthe witch was finally killed… crushed under rocks (?!). A strange fate for such a cosmic entity, which suggests that she may not be dead but still dormant.
The fact remains that for the moment, there is no intention of bringing her back to Marvel.
