Max Greenfield says the return of the cult sitcom is well and truly underway. Scripts have even already been written.

The New Girl roommates could soon reunite.

Guest of the show Today with Jenna & Sheinelle, Max Greenfield, the unforgettable Schmidt, gave very encouraging news of the reunion project, requested for years by fans.

“To my knowledge, it’s going to do well!” confided the actor, before revealing that the creator of the series, Elizabeth Meriwether, had already started working on it:

“Liz has already written several scripts. I’ve read them. They’re excellent. Elizabeth is an incredibly talented writer.”

Broadcast between 2011 and 2018, New Girl ended after seven seasons, but the idea of a return never really left the minds of the actors and the public. Max Greenfield’s statements constitute the most concrete sign to date that a revival is really in the works.

It remains to be seen in what form it will see the light of day. New episodes? A TV movie? A mini-series? No details have yet been given, and no filming or broadcast date has been announced.
