One Battle after another 2? Teyana Taylor pushes for a sequel

“I want to tell everyone: I am currently begging PTA to give us this sequel…”

More than $200 million in revenue worldwide. And a great prestigious success for Warner Bros. to the key.

What if One Battle after another was entitled to a sequel? In any case, actress and singer Teyana Taylor does not hide her desire to dive back into the world of Paul Thomas Anderson’s film… to the point of openly putting pressure on the director.

Interviewed by IndieWire, the actress returned to her character, Perfidia Beverly Hills, member of the revolutionary group French 75, which she would love to reprise in One Battle after another 2. If PTA wants to do it one day…

Spoiler alert!

In the film released in 2025, Perfidia is imprisoned before escaping and returning to Mexico. But what especially intrigues Taylor is the 16-year time skip which occurs after the birth of Willa, played by Chase Infiniti. For her, this mysterious period of time would justify making another film:

“I always say to Paul: we have to see what Perfidia has done over these 16 years. Perfidia and Willa need scenes together. When Willa walks out the door in the last scene, I wondered: where is she really going? Free Deandra? Find your mother? I like that the ending remains hopeful… and that it leaves room for a little second part.”

The actress is very straightforward and assures that these discussions with Paul Thomas Anderson are not a joke:

“These conversations are very serious. I want to tell everyone: I am currently begging PTA to give us this follow-up…”

It must be said that Teyana Taylor was one of the great revelations of the film. Her performance earned her the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress, and above all a nomination for the next Oscars (March 15).

It remains to be seen whether Paul Thomas Anderson will give in to his actress’s insistence. This still seems unlikely. This is not the style of the house: in 30 years of career, the filmmaker has never made the slightest sequel to any of the ten films he has directed.
