Peacemaker: a new credits and a new dance for season 2
“I decided to use a new song …” James Gunn announces a change in opening credits.
No more absurd signings on “do ya wanna taste it” by Wig wam ? Not quite.
But for season 2 of Peacemakerthe creator James Gunn decided to start again on a new choreography … and a new credits.
Iconic from the first seconds, the opening of season 1 – 90 seconds of Choré awkwardfilmed in one day in a gymnasium with all the cast – quickly became cult, to the point of becoming unmissable. And viral: “I think there are four billion views of this sequence on Tiktok”recalls Gunn in EW. Difficult to do better.
But with several characters’ departures and the arrival of new heads (including Tim Meadows,, Rodriguez,, Michael Rooker and a Judomaster more present), it was needed new. “I knew I needed a new dance”. The fact remains that the real question was musical: to keep Wig wam Or change track?
“I really hesitated for a long time”, admits the showrunner. “And in the end, I decided to use a new song, which sticks more to the theme of this season.”
He does not yet say which one, but he says that he has not tried to surpass the magic of season 1: “I do not know if this new sequence will one day be able to surpass the first, because no one expected it. It was a total surprise, and that, we cannot reproduce it. On the other hand, the surprises in the series itself, I think they are largely compensating, because there are so many more twists and turns this season, and revelations on this universe“.
