Daredevil Born Again: Should Matt Murdock come out of his closet? (critical)
Charlie Cox, Vincent d’Onofrio and the others are back in this reboot/suite series which is now integrated into the MCU. Verdict?
No one believed in it, however Marvel did it. So here is the return of the series Daredevil – Canceled by Netflix in 2018 and now fell back into the Disney -, with the added bonus of its original cast. A real suite and a false reboot (all that really changes is that Matt Murdock and his family are now officially part of the MCU) where the blind superhero hangs up the gloves following a tragedy (let’s say no more), while the political ambitions of Wilson Fisk (Vincent d’Onofrio) lead him to the New York City Hall.
The confrontation between the two men will be all the stake of this season: on the one hand an implacable mayor who wants to reign the order and rid his city of masked vigilantes; On the other, a gifted lawyer but whose moral compass is unlocked (must a hero replace the system? And can he kill in the name of justice?). From the very effective pilot, the issues are posed and Murdock separated from his old acolytes, thus evacuating the whole aspect Soap Opera who was placing the Netflix series. What to allow the very nice Charlie Cox to build your game a little and try to get to the level of Vincent D’Onofrioimmutable charisma block.
No big upheaval on the horizon but an elegant evolution, in which fans and newcomers will quickly find their young. The promise of violence is held and the return of emblematic second roles (yes, the Punisher is there) regularly renews interest.
Too bad, however, that Daredevil: Born Again Lack of visual consistency and multiplies the small tips seen and reviewed to try to iconize his characters (the abuse of sequence plans in the action scenes, formerly synonymous with cool, ends up tiring and playing against him). But let’s not spit in the soup: it is still a Marvel series located at the top of the basket, which juggles perfectly between the procedural (an episode to complete a precise plot) and a fairly captivating red thread on the duty of a superhero. Good surprise, therefore.
