Saw 11 is confirmed with a new director

After a long journey strewn with pitfalls, the eleventh part of the horrific saga will finally be able to move forward. Mike P. Nelson will direct the film, with James Wan returning to produce.

It’s official: Saw 11 will do well.

After several months of hesitation, Lionsgate and Atomic Monster, Blumhouse’s production company, announced the arrival of Mike P. Nelson behind the camera. Gregory Weidman and Geoff Tock will write the screenplay, while James Wan, Jason Blum and Leigh Whannell will produce the film.

However, there is no question of starting from scratch: this new Saw will continue the mythology and continuity already established by the franchise, and will therefore not be a reboot.

The project took time to come to fruition, but it now seems to be well and truly launched. The return of James Wan to production also allows us to reconnect with the man who launched the saga in 2004.

“Making the first Saw was a defining experience for me. It was therefore essential to find a director capable of respecting this universe. Mike has a raw and unique filmmaker’s voice and an inventive approach to the genre, and I’m confident he will bring something truly unique and special to the franchise.”explains James Wan in the press release.

Mike P. Nelson already knows horror cinema well. In particular, he made Deadly detour And Silent Night, Deadly Nightas well as a segment of V/H/S/85. It is also due to be released soon Beware Boiúna.

For now, Lionsgate has not set a theatrical release date for Saw 11.
