Vincent Cassel as Quasimodo: first images

Directed by Jean-François Richet, Quasimodo, the soul of Paris will be released in November on Netflix.

It will once again ring the bells on our screens.

Quasimodothe character who will inspire Victor Hugo as the hero of Notre-Dame of Pariswill be the hero of a Netflix film.

Vincent Cassel takes over the legendary hunchback of the Parisian cathedral and succeeds Anthony Quinn (in Jean Delannoy’s 1956 film) and Patrick Timsit (in his 1999 comedy).

“Behind each great fresco there is a little story“, teases Netflix which reveals the first images today, suggesting that it will be more of a historical film than a new adaptation of Notre-Dame of Paris.

This new version “imagine the life of the man who would have inspired Quasimodo, the famous character of Victor Hugo, mixing revolt and impossible love on the eve of the July Revolution (1830), in a Paris threatened by the cholera epidemic” according to the Netflix synopsis.

Directed by Jean-François Richet, this new film will be called Quasimodo, the soul of Paris and will tell the life of the man who inspired Victor Hugo to create his famous character Quasimodo.

Written by Éric Besnard and Edgar Marie, we will also see Karim Leklou, Daphné Patakia and Benjamin Voisin in the cast.

Quasimodo, the soul of Paris will be released on Netflix on November 27, 2026.
