Severance Season 3 Director Announced

Ben Stiller hands over. Filmmaker Kogonada will replace him and promises to retain the DNA of the Apple TV phenomenon series.

A new employee is coming to Severance.

Season 3 of the Apple TV+ series will welcome a new lead director to succeed Ben Stiller, who has decided not to return behind the camera.

According to World of Reel, Kogonada is expected to direct “most, if not all, the episodes” of this new season. A choice which confirms the series’ desire to continue to surround itself with strong signatures.

Revealed with Columbus (2017), then noticed with After Yang (2021), Kogonada followed last year with A Big Bold Beautiful Journey (2025), worn by Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell. His latest film, Yi, recently premiered at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival.

The filmmaker already knows the terrain of series: he directed several episodes of Pachinko and Star Wars: The Acolyte, consolidating his experience on ambitious productions.
