Shōgun season 2 will be long in coming until 2027
The film date has just been announced … for next year. Explanations.
After months of hesitation, Shōgun will have a sequel. And it materializes today.
The FX channel officially announces the launch of season 2 shooting for January 2026, on the Vancouver side in Canada.
The actors of the first season Hiroyuki Sanada And Cosmo Jarvis will resume their respective roles of the Lord Yoshii Toranaga and John Blackthorne. Sanada, who was already a producer in the first season in addition to playing it, becomes executive producer. Jarvis, on the other hand, will now be executive co -producer of the series.
No broadcast date mentioned, but knowing that the shooting of season 1 had lasted 10 months, it is assumed that this season 2 of Shōgun will not arrive on our screens before 2027 (in France on Disney Plus)!
The second season will take place ten years after the events of the first.
Shōgun Season 1 was adapted from the eponymous novel by James Clavell, itself freely inspired by real facts in Japan history. The series, launched in February 2024, was welcomed with an almost unanimous enthusiasm.
According to FX, Shōgun has become the most watched program in the whole history of the chain. The series won a record of 18 Emmy Awards in 2024, including that of the best dramatic series, of the best actor for Hiroyuki Sanada and the best actress for Anna Sawai. Since then, she has won many other awards, including the Golden Globe for the best dramatic series.
