Star Wars Maul: season 2 is coming (very) soon to Disney+
Sam Witwer, voice of Maul, has some good news for fans.
While season 1 of Maul: Lord of Shadows has just ended on Disney+, a question is already haunting fans: how long will we have to wait for the sequel? Answer: not long.
Asked about the subject, Sam Witwer, voice of Maul and consulting producer of the animated series, wanted to be reassuring. “This is not a situation where the public will have to wait a very, very long time,” he assured, while specifying that he already knows the release date… without being able to reveal it for the moment.
He explains that season 2 has been in preparation for a while even though Disney+ officially renewed the series in April 2026, proof of the confidence placed in this new chapter centered on one of the most iconic characters in the Star Wars galaxy.

Calendar-wise, the previous animated series in the franchise give some clues. The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels followed an annual rhythm, while The Bad Batch had its first two seasons spaced about 18 months apart. Result: a release in spring 2027 seems the most credible option today.
But beyond the timing, it was above all the enthusiasm of the fans that surprised the series team: “I knew we had something, but I had not anticipated such a level of passion” admits Sam Witwer. A craze that inevitably puts pressure on things to come: “The whole team feels an enormous responsibility to accelerate and go even further.”
Same requirement from Dave Filoni, boss of Lucasfilm, who encouraged the creators to make this season 2 their best work to date. An ambition worthy of what the series now represents, described as a true “modern mythology.”
