After The Curse, Checkmate: Emma Stone and Nathan Fielder take inspiration from the anal plug chess cheat

The 10 Forgotten Emmy Awards 2024

These actors and actresses would have largely deserved their place at the next ceremony.

1) Emma Stone in The Curse (Paramount)

Certainly the most incomprehensible of all the absences. The series was perhaps too “cringe” for the Academy, but the performance of the Oscar-winning star of Poor Creatures remains nonetheless amazing.

2) Kate Winslet in The system of government (Max)

A real surprise, as the former heroine of Titanic is appreciated by voters, as evidenced by its triumphant success for Mare of Easttown. But her performance as a strange comic dictator was less convincing.

3) The drivers in Masters of the Air (Apple TV+)

The heroes of Band of Brothers are no longer popular? The aerial battle led by Austin Butler, Callum Turner and Barry Keoghan was well worth a decoration. Perhaps the votes have been scattered.

4) Bruce Greenwood in The Fall of the House of Usher (Netflix)

The brilliant Mike Flanagan adapted Edgar Allan Poe with astonishing accuracy and yet the Academy did not want to honor his talent, nor that of his lead actor. The horror genre is never the most popular at ceremonies.

5) Rose Byrne and Seth Rogen in Platonic (Apple TV+)

The excellent friendly comedy owes a lot to its central duo, incredibly accurate and sincere. Rose Byrne is particularly impressive in a comic register that we hardly knew her for and would have deserved to be praised.

6) Colin Farrell in Sugar (Apple TV+)

He’s always good, in anything and anywhere. This time, a sweet and charismatic neo-noir private detective, the Irish actor steals the show in this series that unfortunately went too unnoticed.

7) Danai Gurira in The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live (Paramount +)

If there was a time to honor the great zombie saga of American television, this would certainly have been the right time. The spin-off on Rick and Michonne was more successful, thanks largely to the moving performance of the indefatigable Michonne.

8) Rebecca Ferguson in Silo (Apple TV+)

The science fiction series was one of the events of 2023, in its breathtaking settings and thanks to its lead actress, who went up and down the steps of this Silo at an infernal pace!

9) Theo James in The Gentlemen (Netflix)

More than just a pretty face and he proved it again at Guy Ritchie. After his brilliant appearance in The White Lotusthe former seducer of Divergent has largely contributed to the success of this serial adaptation which is not essential on paper.

10) Michael Douglas in Franklin (Apple TV+)

He’ll be 80 this year, but he’s still masterful at playing the Father of the Nation in this fascinating costume biopic, which was completely overlooked by the 2024 Emmy voters.
