The Beatles at Abbey Road: Sam Mendes biopic recreates the legendary album cover
Paul Mescal, Joseph Quinn, Barry Keoghan and Harris Dickinson are on a crosswalk (in stolen video).
While Sam Mendes is currently filming his ambitious project dedicated to the legendary Liverpool group, the four main actors have paid homage to one of the most famous images in the history of music: the album cover Abbey Road.
In a (stolen) video posted on social media, Harris Dickinson, Paul Mescal, Joseph Quinn and Barry Keoghan appear recreating the famous crossing on the London pedestrian crossing. A particularly symbolic nod for a project which intends to tell the group’s history from a new angle. Paul Mescal will play Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson will play John Lennon, Joseph Quinn will play George Harrison while Barry Keoghan will play Ringo Starr.
This new adaptation around the Beatles will not, however, take the form of a traditional biopic because Sam Mendes, who will direct the four films, has imagined a true cinematographic saga made up of four feature films. Each will be told from the perspective of a different member of the group.
Titled The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Eventthe project is due to be released in cinemas in April 2028 under the banner of Sony Pictures. The studio has not yet specified whether the four films will be offered simultaneously or with a new feature film each week during the month of April.
The concept is particularly ambitious because each film must offer its own perspective on the history of the Beatles, while forming a common fresco with the other three.
