The Corset: discover the trailer for this animated gem awarded at Cannes and Annecy
After his work at Pixar and on Alexandre Astier’s Astérix, Louis Clichy signs a very personal and visually marvelous film.
The Corset promises to be one of the sensations of animated cinema this year. Awarded at Cannes and Annecy, Louis Clichy’s first solo feature film is inspired by his own childhood. A very personal work for which he chose to put aside 3D animation in favor of Indian ink and watercolor, for a sublime visual rendering reminiscent of Sempé’s drawings.
Synopsis: On a farm in the heart of Beauce, 11-year-old Christophe follows in his father’s footsteps. But at school, at home, on the tractor, Christophe leans… and falls. He has to wear a corset to go straight. While the farm goes through difficult times, Christophe grows as best he can. He discovers music and meets Clara, with whom everything seems to become possible.
A graduate of the Gobelins school, Louis Clichy studied at Pixar, notably working as an animator on Wall-E And Up therebefore co-signing two films with Alexandre Astier, Asterix: The Domain of the Gods And Asterix: The Secret of the Magic Potion. Today he is taking off with this project that he began developing more than ten years ago with Eddy cinema.
The Corset also made an impression at the festival with its use of Stephanie de Monaco’s hit, “Comme un hurrican”, which also punctuates its trailer, see below. Release date: October 14.
