The Short Film Festival celebrates its 10th anniversary with Vincent Macaigne and Vimala Pons
Every year the Fête du court organizes a giant event to (re)discover the short film.
Like every year, the Short Film Festival celebrates great little films throughout France. And for this 10th edition, it is with two distinguished guests that the event opens its doors: Vimala Pons and Vincent Macaigne as godmother and godfather.
La Fête du Court, whose vice-presidents are Julie Gayet and producer Alain Rocca, intends to make the richness of short films visible and accessible to everyone. The programming is accessible during the dates of the event to everyone: cinemas, educational, health and penitentiary establishments, media libraries, alternative but also special places, in the city and in the countryside! Registrations have been extended until February 18.
On the program, more than 18,000 sessions including screenings, workshops, meetings and debates. On the occasion of this special edition, the festival is creating 10 carte blanche cards, developed by the organizers.
In an editorial, the president of the CNC, Gaëtan Brunel, underlines the importance of this cinematographic genre, sometimes somewhat sidelined: “The short film is in fact a wonderful space for artistic research where writing and forms are constantly reinvented, a wealth that the Short Film Festival makes accessible to everyone.”
In 2026, 32 projects and 139 films will bring the Short Film Festival to life. Several programs are offered with categories or themes suitable for all ages and tastes. There are shorts selected for the 2026 Césars (The death of an actor, Big Boys Don’t Cry, Wonderwall, The Beautiful Scars or the documentary Car Wash)or nuggets like For the role (2013), directed by Pierre Niney with François Civil, a Little Nicholas 1964 version (with Bernadette Lafont and Michael Lonsdale as the parents), or I want to dance with Benjamin Voisin and Stefan Crepon.
Among the list of filmmakers discovered thanks to this French event, Alice Diop (Saint-Omer), Simon Bouisson (Drone), Charlene Favier (Slalom) or even Céline Devaux (Everyone loves Jeanne).
The Short Film Festival will be held from March 25 to 31 throughout France. All information is available on the site.
