This luxurious castle on the Côte d’Azur which will host season 4 of The White Lotus
Saint-Tropez will serve as the setting for the new story in the HBO Max anthology.
After the Thai beaches, The White Lotus promises a season 4 bathed in sun, champagne… and tensions on the Riviera.
New details have just fallen concerning the new chapter of the anthology, and confirming that the HBO series will set up shop in France!
Created by Mike White, the American series will explore the Var. According to Variety, this season 4 will be filmed this year in a 19th century palace converted into a luxury hotel: the Château de La Messardière, located in Saint-Tropez, on the Côte d’Azur.
A luxury hotel set on a 13-hectare estate surrounded by umbrella pines, cypresses and jasmine. The castle is part of the Airelles Collection, a group of five-star hotels owned by Stéphane Courbit, founder and president of Banijay Group (producer of Koh-Lanta, Peaky Blinders).
“Suites at this luxury property cost between $3,000 and $8,000 — or more — per night. The hotel has a spa, beach access via Rolls-Royce transfer, restaurants, sports activities and even a children’s camp.”
A setting perfectly aligned with the DNA of the series, where opulence always serves as a backdrop to social satire.
Filming for season 4 is expected to begin at the end of April and continue until October.
Variety specifies that the production also plans to film in other locations. The Château de La Messardière will not be the only setting in the series. The plot will unfold along the French Riviera, with some scenes also filmed in an as-yet-unnamed Parisian hotel.
As a bonus, Variety suggests that the Cannes Film Festival could play a role in the story, since the 79th edition will be held at the same time as the filming – in May – a few kilometers away…
On the casting side, Helena Bonham Carter should sign. Alexander Ludwig and AJ Michalka are already announced. The rest of the cast is still being finalized.
Season 4 of White Lotus will be released in 2027 on HBO Max in France.
