Wagner Moura opposite Margot Robbie and Bradley Cooper in Ocean’s Eleven prequel

After triumphing with The Secret Agent and making Hollywood awards history, the Brazilian actor will be in the casting of the new film in the franchise.

He was noticed last year, nominated for an Oscar and rewarded at the Golden Globes, for his role in The Secret Agent. The film career of the former Escobar of the series Narcos might just be taking off in Hollywood.

According to several American media, Wagner Moura is in negotiations to join the cast of the new film in the franchise Ocean’s developed by Warner Bros. He would thus reunite with Margot Robbie and Bradley Cooper, who will also write and direct the film.

Plot details are still being kept under wraps, but Margot Robbie previously revealed at CinemaCon that this prequel will take place during the 1962 Monaco Grand Prix.

The film will mainly tell the adventures of the parents of Danny Ocean, the famous robber played by George Clooney in the modern trilogy. Parents that Robbie and Cooper will most certainly play while Moura could play the villain (even if nothing has been made official yet).

Before Danny Ocean set foot in Las Vegas, two masterminds taught him everything he knew: his parents“, explained Margot Robbie during the presentation of the project. “You will discover them at the peak of their talent, preparing a spectacular heist during the 1962 Monaco Grand Prix.”

The project promises to be a return to the origins of the saga launched in 1960 with Ocean’s 11then successfully relaunched by Steven Soderbergh in 2001. The three films starring George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon and Julia Roberts grossed more than a billion dollars at the worldwide box office.

This new chapter is expected in theaters on June 25, 2027.
