The film in theaters: Garance by Jeanne Herry

Jeanne Herry (Pupille) features an actress living from her work, well surrounded and loved but struggling with a deep addiction to alcohol that we will follow for eight years. And beyond a film about alcoholism, Garance reveals itself above all to be the portrait of a woman in motion. A woman who, although in a deadly addiction, aspires to life and will experience an intimate revolution by experiencing her first love story with a woman. A heroine played by Adèle Exarchopoulos at the top of her art, surrounded by an equally perfect cast, Sara Giraudeau in the lead.

Unrecognizable, Jérôme Niel abandons his “tutorials” and the hysteria of Studio Bagel to play a much more disturbing character. He becomes Paolo, an ordinary guy who harbors an unhealthy obsession with a former classmate, who has become a prominent figure in their small provincial town. While the latter launches into politics and runs for mayor, he becomes her driver and gradually interferes in her life. From this strange and ambiguous relationship, Sébastien Marnier (The Origin of Evil) draws a psychological thriller as captivating as it is disturbing. Without ever looking for easy effect, the series examines the relationships of domination, the social frustrations and the ambitions which eat away at this small community in full turmoil. Above all, it offers Jérôme Niel an unexpected counter-use, where his comic energy gives way to something much murkier.
