What future for Prime Video's Warner Pass with the launch of Max in France?

The head of Warner Bros. Discovery in France takes stock.

Although we do not yet know the exact date or the price, we know that Max will indeed arrive in France next July, before the Olympic Games. The Warner Bros. streaming platform. will have in its catalog the famous series HBOwhich were offered via OCS with us until 2023 and which can since be seen on Prime Videowith the Warner Pass.

So what will become of this famous Warner Passonce Max will be online in France?

“We are in discussions with Amazon for a smooth transition” explains in Le Film Français Clément Schwebig, the director of Warner Bros. Discovery in France, before warning: “There’s not much point in continuing the Warner Pass with our new offering coming up.” Clearly, the Pass will not coexist with Max and will therefore be cut at one point or another. During this year ? It currently counts “several hundred thousand subscribers“, which the group hopes to repatriate to Max.

THE Warner Pass currently costs €9.99 per month. But a promotion (until April 10) is in progress. Prime Video subscribers can discover the service for free for 30 days and those already Pass customers are entitled to a reduction, with a price of €4.99 for one month.

Clément Schwebig immediately specifies that his platform will not involve exclusive distribution and discussions with “major distributors” from France are in progress.

Finally, the American giant plans to finance 4 to 5 original productions per year in France, as part of its audiovisual obligations. “We want to establish a certain frequency but we are not obsessed with this aspect. It’s the quality of the content that counts. We are not in a content war.”

The platform Max currently has 98 million subscribers worldwide, but Warner Bros. Discovery hopes to reach 130 million customers by 2025, thanks to its expansion in Europe in particular.
