Jessica Chastain disagreed with the break of her series by Apple
Diving into the world of extremists, The Savant was to be released in early October, but the platform wants to avoid a scandal after the death of Charlie Kirk.
A consequence of the suspension of Jimmy Kimmel who shocked America?
Apple TV+ decided not to take any risk and avoid any potential scandal, by postponing the release of The Savant, its thriller initially expected for early October.
In this eminently political thriller, Jessica Chastain embodies an ancient soldier infiltrated within the anti-high Alliance, who pretends to be a white nationalist on online forums to identify and neutralize extremists before they take action. The series completely denounces the rise of the American extreme right via influencers who nourish the networks.
An already sensitive subject, but made complicated to evoke in the current context, after the assassination of the conservative activist Charlie Kirk, on September 10 at the University of Utah.
Suddenly, Apple shifts The Savant on a later date (without more precision). The streamer declares:
After careful thinking, we decided to postpone The Savant. We thank you for your understanding and are impatient to offer the series on a later date. “
Jessica Chastain was quick to react to this announcement on social networks. And if the actress, who is also a producer of the show, says he appreciates her collaboration with Apple, she clearly shares her disagreement:
“We are not aligned with this decision to break the scientist. During the five years we worked on this show, we attended a sad rise in violence in the United States: the attempted kidnapping against the governor of Michigan Gretchen Whitmer, the attack of January 6 against Capitol, attempts at assassinations against President Trump, Minnesota, the attack on the husband of Nancy Pelosi, the assassination of the conservative commentator Charlie Kirk (…) and more than 300 shootings in schools across the country (…) The Savant speaks of the heroes who work every day to stop violence before it occurred, and honor their courage seems more urgent than ever. “
I want to say How Much i Value My Partnership with Apple. They’ve been incredible collaborators and I deeply respect their team. The series is inspired by an article by Cosmopolitan in 2019 signed Andrea Stanley, who is interested in the real work of an investigator nicknamed The Scientist or simply “K”, specialized in the prevention of mass violence by particularly targeting the contemporary American extreme right and its online drifts, which can trigger dark passages.
