Discover Blossoms Shanghai, Wong Kar-Wai’s first series: trailer
The 30 episodes produced by the Chinese master will arrive on Mubi in France in a few weeks.
After having met with phenomenal success in China, the first series from the legendary Wong Kar-Wai arrives in France.
MUBI has acquired the rights to broadcast Blossoms Shanghai here and today unveils a new trailer for this very ambitious project, adapted from the novel by Jin Yucheng, and which marks Wong Kar-Wai’s first steps on television with the production of each of the 30 episodes!
“Set in the dazzling Shanghai of the 1990s, Blossoms Shanghai follows the rise of Ah Bao from an ordinary man to the famous tycoon “Mr. Bao.” Guided by his mentor, Uncle Ye; restaurant owner Ling Zi and Miss Wang of the Foreign Trade Bureau, he seizes the opportunities offered by a city booming thanks to economic reform. But when a mysterious woman opens The Grand Lisbon restaurant, her glittering world begins to crack, revealing the fragile balance between success, memory and nostalgia” describes the synopsis.
The cast consists of Hu Ge, Ma Yili, Tang Yan, Xin Zhilei and You Benchang.
Blossoms Shanghai will be available exclusively in France from February 26, 2026. The series will be broadcast in three bursts of ten 45-minute episodes, with a new part every four weeks, for a total of 30 episodes.
