After Les Misérables, Ladj Ly unveils the powerful trailer for Bâtiment 5
The film has its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.
It was supposed to be in Cannes, and be called The Undesirables. Not ready in time for the Croisette, the new film by Lady Lywhich is now called Building 5, has just unveiled its trailer, just before its presentation in Toronto. And we can expect a new high-profile social and societal drama from the director of the Miserableawarded the César for best film in 2020.
As early as 2019, Ladj Ly announced his goal: to sign a trilogy for “tell the suburbs over the last thirty years“. Fact, Building 5 is clearly a continuation of Miserable. The native of Montfermeil plunges us once again into a city on the verge of implosion, with the added bonus of two already seen actors already seen in Les Misérables, Alexis Manenti and Steve Tientcheu. But the prism will be different this time.
The film follows Haby (Anta Diaw, seen recently in The Young Imam of Kim Chapiron), a young woman very involved in the life of her town who is fighting against the demolition of the building where she grew up. Faced with the young pediatrician who is the mayor of the city (Manenti), she will count on the fed up of the population to try to prevent the destruction of building 5.
Building 5 will be released in France on December 6 at the cinema. Trailer :
