Césars 2026: Alison Wheeler pays Benjamin Lavernhe and the nepo babies
One of the best sequences of the evening!
After Franck Dubosc’s highly acclaimed sketch the previous year, it was the actress and comedian Alison Wheeler, formerly a columnist on the show Dailywhich caused a sensation during the 2026 César Awards.
If no one was forgotten at the Césars – almost all the films went home with a prize – the great cinema family was not spared either.
With the casual tone that we know well, the redhead arrived on stage with the firm intention of putting her feet in the dish…And it succeeded.
From nepos to the role – a little embarrassing – of Benjamin Lavernhe in Abbé Pierre, Alison Wheeler brilliantly nailed French cinema.
“You are all legitimate, all of you. You have the right to be there: editors, authors, sound engineers, actors…even you nepo babies. Don’t let anyone tell you that you don’t deserve your place, that it’s because of your parents that you are there. You fought to be here. (…) You too have the pleasure of rainy Sunday evenings when you come home to the Trocadéro family duplex”.
She then turned to the master of ceremonies to address one of the most tense subjects of 2025…
“You can play everything from a conductor to a groom who takes flight…even theAbbot Pierre innocent. Sorry, but please, let’s burst the abscess. (…) I’m doing it for you Benjamin, it’s the elephant in the room. (…) I say it, please, we must separate Benjamin from the Abbot, no amalgamations”then she continues “Promise us Benjamin, be more vigilant from now on! (…) He has a film currently being financed, it’s the biopic of Jack Lang” all to the hilarious laughter of the audience and particularly that of the actor who has just been awarded the César for best actor, Laurent Lafitte.
