Where will Hijack season 3 take place?

Sam Nelson in a boat? On a bike?

What playground for Sam Nelson and Idris Elba in the future?

Where could Hijack season 3 take place? After the tense finale of season 2, co-creator Jim Field Smith opened the door to a sequel… without promising anything.

In an interview with Variety, the screenwriter explains that everything will depend on a single question: is there “a story left to tell” for Sam Nelson? For him, there is no point in mechanically reproducing the concept. A season 3 will only see the light of day if the story really demands it. “If Apple decides they want a piece of the ‘Hijack’ pie, the question I’ll always ask is: What story is left for Sam?”

Created by George Kay and Jim Field Smith, the series stars Idris Elba in the role of Sam Nelson, a corporate negotiator thrust into the heart of extreme crises. Season 1 took place aboard a commercial flight between Dubai and London. Season 2 moved the action to the Berlin subway, where Nelson appeared to orchestrate a hijacking himself under duress from criminal forces.

For a possible season 3, the setting could radically change.

“Of course, yes, it could be on a boat. It could be on an electric bike, in the back of a limousine, or even, you know, in a submarine. Or it could transcend the ‘Hijack’ format and explore a whole other universe. That’s exactly what I mean. The context isn’t really relevant anymore. It’s more about: Where could Sam go?”

The “plot” becomes secondary if Sam’s story arc remains strong.

Spoiler alert!

And precisely: we discover in the last episode of season 2 that Stuart Atterton is the mastermind behind the hijacking of the subway and the death of Kai. So, we imagine that a season 3 is planned so that Sam can settle his scores:

“Of course, Stuart is still alive, there is clearly tension between the two of them, so we can explore different avenues. I don’t think we’ll do something like: Sam Nelson has become a guy to whom horrible things happen all the time! It has to be linked to the series in the same way that season 2 is linked to season 1. If we did a season 3, it would necessarily be linked to season 2. We can’t say to ourselves: ‘Okay, this is a series that works, so we continue like this.” I’m not interested. I don’t think many people are interested in that…”

For the moment, season 3 of Hijack has not yet been ordered.
