James Wan will direct a US remake of this famous Korean thriller

Paramount is preparing a new version of The Gangster, the Cop and the Assassin, which screened at Cannes in 2019.

Paramount Pictures has enlisted James Wan to direct an American remake of the 2019 thriller The gangster, the cop and the assassin.

More good news for fans of the original film: Don Lee (also known as Ma Dong-seok), star of the South Korean version released in 2019, is also attached to the project.

Star genre director James Wan is behind several huge box office hits, including The Conjuring, Insidious And Sawwhich have become real franchises. He is also part of the very closed circle of filmmakers having signed two films exceeding a billion dollars in worldwide revenue with Furious 7 And Aquaman.

Released in 2019 and presented at the Cannes Film Festival, The gangster, the cop and the assassin told the story of the unlikely alliance between a gangster and a police officer determined to stop a serial killer.

On the writing side, the first version of the script for the remake was signed by Brian Helgeland, Oscar winner for best screenplay for LA Confidential and author of Mystic River. He will remain involved as executive producer, while Shay Hatten (resident Evil) takes care of the new adaptation. James Wan will also produce the film with Michael Clear through their company Atomic Monster.
